I have been a long admirer of West Elm and have been consistently impressed with their commitment to local creatives. I had been dreaming of a workshop at their gorgeous store in Tulsa, so I was so excited to get a date in the books! Katie Allen of Common Artistry stopped by to help with styling and set-up and my dear friend Jessica Tucker of Jessica Tucker Photography was on hand to snap photos.
The anticipation was serious after an exciting giveaway period; seats sold out in record time, so I was especially excited to meet this bunch!
We fit 15 amazing creative women on three gorgeous tables, and I'll admit that it was a bit nerve-wracking to have so many bottles of ink atop such fancy tables and textile rugs. We made it through without any major incidents, thank goodness!
After a welcome and intros, we dove into hand-lettering basics and learned how to create letters with my favorite marker, the Tombow. We eased our way into painting letters with a brush and ink, and made it a goal to complete a 5x7 composition. One of my favorite parts of the workshop was watching guests walk around the store, looking for inspiring places to style and stage their print. We were surrounded by beautiful patterns, gorgeous colors, and air plants galore!
We munched on treats from Whole Foods, including a new workshop favorite and ode to my 2-year stint in Mississippi - hot and spicy cheese straws!
This day was a blessing. Thank you so much to West Elm Tulsa for hosting and providing such an inspiring place to create! And of course, thank you to all of my new friends for spending your Saturday morning with me. Stay in touch!
